Alcatel-Lucent selected by Craig Wireless for Palm Springs WiMAX
network deployment

Alcatel-Lucent (Euronext Paris:ALU) (NYSE:ALU), a voice, data and video
communication services delivery solutions provider, has been selected
by Craig Wireless (TSX:CWG), a telecomms services provider, to build a
new WiMAX network in Palm Springs, California based on the IEEE
802.16e-2005 (Rev-e) WiMAX standard.
Under the agreement, Alcatel-Lucent will provide its end-to-end WiMAX
Rev-e solution, which is designed to enable rapid implementation of
voice over IP (VoIP) and broadband services. This will including base
stations, wireless access controllers and an operation and maintenance
centre (OMC) and is the first commercial deployment of the company's
WiMAX technology in North America.
As part of the deal the company will also provide network design,
planning, installation and optimisation for end-to-end integration of
the network, which will operate in the 2.5 gigahertz (GHz) spectrum
band.
No financial details were revealed.
