Monolith to Drive Telephony, Digital TV, Internet for Telecom Co-Op

By Arun Satapathy

Monolith Software announced today that it’s been selected by Pioneer Telephone (News - Alert) Cooperative in Kingfisher, Oklahoma as the service assurance platform for its OSS platform.

Monolith would ensure Pioneer service delivery network operates at peak levels, according to the companies. Pioneer officials say their company provides digital TV, telephony services, high-speed internet, wireless, paging, security systems, and business connectivity services – offerings that they say will benefit from Monolith Software’s features, ability to implement quickly and low cost.

Pioneer already has used HP OpenView to monitor a subset of their service delivery infrastructure, according to the company. The driver for Pioneer’s OSS Project was to build a system for delivering alarm and surveillance management, event management, monitoring of operational metrics and Service Level Agreements, tracking of availability and performance management, and that can monitor new applications and services such as IP video as they are rolled out, company officials say. Pioneer says it’s also recently rolled out a new Cisco (News - Alert)-based optical infrastructure.

Monolith officials say that the before its selection, Pioneer issued an RFP to six different software vendors. Pioneer reviewed the responses and narrowed the vendors to a select group to present their capabilities, they say. After a live demo, an on-site meeting with the Pioneer team in Kingfisher, substantial follow-up Q&A and due diligence, Pioneer says it selected Monolith Software.

Pioneer officials say the new OSS software solution will work in conjunction with construction of their new Network Operations Center.

“We looked extensively to find the best solution on the market to meet our needs. Monolith offered the most functionality, a superior interface, and was able to deliver their solution over the course of a six week project. This not only met our deadlines, but was significantly faster to deploy than the time frames quoted by Monolith’s competitors,” said Lloyd Green, a Pioneer official.

“We are pleased to have Pioneer as a new customer of ours. Their needs and our ability to meet them are very well aligned. We look forward to a strong ongoing partner based relationship with the Pioneer team,” said Jeff Parker, president of Monolith. “Pioneer is another example of Monolith’s excellent fit for Service Provider organizations. We offer time to value and a return on investment that is vastly superior to that of our competitors.”
