Sangoma Offers Matchmaking between Application Partners and Distribution Channel

By Stefania Viscusi, Assignment Desk Editor

IP telephony, also known as “VoIP,” is best known as a cost effective way to communicate today.

The technology makes use of packet-switched connections from the Internet for the exchange of voice, fax and other data forms instead of using the traditional dedicated circuit-switched connections from PSTNs.

In addition to the cost savings, streamlined operations, and user productivity improvements, IP technology offers a number of other possibilities for users.

Toronto, Canada-based Sangoma Technologies (News - Alert) provides data cards, voice cards, gateways and connectivity software used to make IP Telephony possible in leading PBX, IVR, contact center and carrier applications worldwide.

During a recent podcast, I spoke with Serge Forest (News - Alert), vice president of Marketing at Sangoma to find out more about the company’s ecosystem of application developers and channel partners in the IP Telephony space, and the company’s solutions for end customers.

Forest said the company targets independent software vendors and allows them to standardize on the Sangoma platform and then distribute the company’s products via a comprehensive two-tier worldwide distribution network.

“Were fortunate in our market segment to have the widest breadth of applications supporting and standardizing on Sangoma,” Forest said.

While a number of the company’s application partners run on Windows, there are also partners running on Linux, some with PBX applications call center applications, recording, Skype (News - Alert) gateways, and numerous other types of applications running.

“What we do,” Forest said, “is “matchmaking” between those applications and our worldwide distribution channel so that our channel has more things to sell, and our application vendors get access to all distribution to end users.”
